Wednesday Run 29th October (UCC Track)

Good news we are back on the UCC running track from tomorrow (29th Oct). The track is fully relaid and functional. The track type is a “Mondo” track same as has been used in European Championships and other on international tracks. At the moment the track has not been lined and won’t be lined until April or May of 2026, when there is a spell of dry weather, otherwise the track is fully functional. From tomorrow until the end of March the sessions will be between 6:00-7:00pm then from April on we will revert to a 7:00pm start.

There are dressing room and toilet facilities in the pavilion

If you wear spikes (most of you use flats rather than spikes), no needle spikes allowed, cone spikes no longer than 6mm

Enter the track on the north western corner, up by the GAA pitch

There is no parking allowed in the Mardyke complex for the run sessions

Just a few things about the venue:

Session

Easy warm up

Stretch

Strides

6 x 800m at tempo with easy 400m recovery jog

Cool down

The session will start at 6:00pm sharp and we have to be off the track at 7:00pm as there are other groups with bookings after us. For those that drive to the session there is some street parking on the street outside the Mardyke by the Sacred heart Church. There is also parking along the Lee Road out towards the Water Works. There is also limited parking in the small carpark at the end of the Carraigrohane Straight Road. Try to get there a little early 5:50pm if there is another group using the track we won’t be able to go on until 6:00pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone back.
