Wednesday Run Track Replacement! April 3rd

We got formal notification that the UCC Track is closed for the foreseeable future so not available to us for our usual summer bookings.

As a replacement we are going to look at using the playing pitches at the Ballincollig Regional Park. We have permission from the parks department in Cork City Council. We need to be aware of the wear on tear on the grass, if the pitches ore too soft we can always train on the tarmac paths.

In the summer evenings the park will be busy with other users so we need to be very aware of them and not, literaly, run roughshod over them. To avoid congestion in the main carpark on the western end of the park we are asking members to use the church carpark near the start of the weekly park run. It will be a nice easy warm-up jog to the meeting point at the playing pitches.

We will try to get close to a 400m loop around one of the soccer pitches and use that to do sessions similar to those that we usually do on the track. Any time the pitches are too soft to use we can do tempo sessions on the tarmac.

So for this week meet at the point indicated above at 7:00pm. We know this is not ideal but all of the athletic clubs and tri clubs in Cork are in more or less the same position
