Just for a change of scene when we are in the low season (for most people) we are proposing that we have this week’s club run at the Blarney Running Trail. This is at the Blarney Driving Range, here. The trail is highly recommended by St Finbarr’s AC who hold a lot of their group sessions on the trail. There is a charge of €3 to use the facility, the loop is 3km but once on as many laps as you like can be done. Club may add a small subsidy. Realistically as we plan on starting at 7:00pm, 3 loops would probably be the max we would fit in on this occasion. There is a very good review/preview with a video on the Cork Running Blog here. We are proposing that for members going directly to the trail meet there at 7:00pm ready to run, anyone wanting to car share(or who needs a lift) meet at the usual spot at the city end of the Straight Road opposite the Crows Nest Pub at 6:30pm. Please be on time/early as the light is fading. It is not planned to have this as a regular location but a lot of the ‘Barr’s runners have recommended the facility and there are not that many locations in Cork where you can safely run off-road. The trail is mainly grass and gravel paths with a section of forestry, so wear trail shoes or your second best pair of road shoes. Bring €3.
