Not sure if everyone knows but there have been serious developments with the King of the Hill (Kinsale) race bike route. Part of the roadway that runs along the estuary towards Dunderrow has fallen into the estuary. The result of this is that there are serious roadworks on the road to repair the damage with a traffic light stop/go system in operation. This means that the normal route is no longer usable, Gardai have said that they could not support a race on that road with the present conditions. In fairness the Gardai have suggested another route that will head to Ballinspittle on to Garrettstown beach back past the Speckled Door pub and on to the main Kinsale road for a fast run back to the bridge and the Dock beach. This route is 23km long with several junctions. The Guards will be helping at several of the critical junctions and Ballinspittle village but we really need more club members to help on the day and if you have friends that might be persuaded to help, please sign them up as well, registration can be completed on the club website here. The race is a sprint race so any one helping out could be finished by lunchtime. Marshals are supplied with lunch vouchers and there will be a post race party in town on Saturday evening. Please do everything you can to get as many marshals as possible.
