There have been a few queries coming in about the CTC Time Trials. These traditionally start on the first Tuesday of May and will again this year (Tuesday 5th May). The time trials will run until the end of August. There is a club league incorporated into the season this usually starts after about 4 TTs and lasts for 10 weeks with the best 6 times for each competitor to count. We need three time keepers every week and an appeal will go out on a regular basis for people to help out with the time keeping. To count in the club league you must timekeep at least once during the season. This year the TTs will revert back to the original course on the old road running to Carrigtohill parallel to the N8, the route is shown here: In some places the road surface is not great, particularly around the Elm Tree Bar. The start is just on the Carrigtohill side of the Ballyseedy Retail Park and runs towards the city to the small roundabout and back. The total distance is 13.5km. Many club members take the opportunity to go for a run immediately after the TT and make it a brick session, usual run route is just about 6.8km and can be seen here. Dave Egan and Jane McGrath will again coordinate the TTs for thee coming year. The last TT of thee series will not be included in the league and is usually some kind of novelty event with a prize presentation for league winners at a social event after the race. The TTs are an ideal opportunity to get some speed work on the bike. The event is suitable for all levels within the club as there is no getting dropped with the TT format. Start time is 7:00pm sharp and competitors go at 30s intervals. There is no registration, just turn up on the night (before 7:00pm) and get in line!
