I would just like to wish all club members a very happy Christmas and a successful New Year. Hope the holiday goes well whether you use it as a break in training or as an opportunity to pack more in. Could I suggest for those of you that use Facebook, that if getting together in groups for cycles, runs or swims that you put a post on the club FB page so that those looking for a bit of company could join in. Also there are lots of events over the period: The GOAL Mile at CIT track on Christmas morning (10:30am to 12:30pm), a great opportunity to meet up and contribute to a good cause. Belgooly on St Stephen’s Day is a very popular 4 mile road race at 12:00 noon, in the past groups have cycled down completed the RR and cycled home? On the 27th there is a fundraiser fun run/walk organised by Richmond FC in aid of Marymount Hospice starting at 2:00pm from the Greyhound Stadium in Curraheen to O’Shea’s Pub in Waterfall. Lots of other running events in the surrounding area see Cork Running Calendar. For the braver amongst us there is a Christmas swim in aid of Cork Simon at Whitebay near Aghada, details from the Simon office at 021 4929401. There is also a swim in aid of the Children’s unit at CUH on Fountainstown Beach at 11:00am on Christmas morning, for further information contact the charity office on 021 4234529. There are also rumours of some cycling sportive but I don’t have details.
