We are moving into the autumn post race season and back to pool swim sessions rather than open water. Cork Tri organise two different types of swim session.
In blocks of 10 weeks there are lane swim sessions in Leisureworld, Bishopstown coached by Brian Clifford. These take place on Tuesday evenings from 9-10.00pm and on Wednesday mornings at 7.00am. These sessions will begin on October 15th and 16th and run to December 17th and 18th. The sessions are for all abilities as the lanes are divided by ability, but participants should be able swim about 500 metres continuously. These sessions are much more training events than stroke coaching, but if appropriate some stroke tips will be given. There will be two more blocks of 10 weeks after Christmas. Booking for these sessions will be through the website from about 3 weeks before they start. Participants must be club members.
The club also organise stroke coaching sessions with Gary Mason in Brookfield. These sessions are targeted at more experienced swimmers who want intense stroke analysis and correction. The sessions are broken into different abilities on different nights. These sessions will start again on October 1st. Booking will be through the website and should go up soon. Participants must be club members.
For anyone who has never engaged in organised lane swimming or has never had any stroke coaching we would suggest maybe starting with the coaching sessions organised by Brian Clifford and Diarmuid Herlihy in Lota Pool. Both Brian and Diarmuid are qualified Swim Ireland coaches. All abilities are catered for at these sessions from reasonably experienced to absolute beginners. These are not CTC sessions but are a good preparation for the Leisureworld lane swimming. These sessions are run continuously from autumn to spring in 6 week blocks. For information contact Brian or Diarmuid directly. Anyone interested in the Lota swim course please email brianj@mysmart.ie or willowd@gofree.indigo.ie or phone Brian at (086)8520492 or Diarmuid at (086)0460333 . These sessions are organised independently of the club and so are open to all.
