Beginner Cycle(Transition Skills) Sun 11th March

This Sunday 11th March the Beginners Cycle is meeting at car park next to Kingsley hotel at 9am. We will be doing a transition skills and bike handling session with Gary Cummins, a triathlon Coach, followed by a cycle after the session (plan details).

Please bring your runners as you will need them for the transition skills. This is a great opportunity to learn some valuable transition skills to help you for races and also learn important bike skills to improve bike handling and cycling in groups.

Anyone attending the session please email

Ideally you will have a road/racer bike. Hybrids/mountain bikes are much heavier and will slow you down. Ideally you are already a member of CTC & Triathlon Ireland. It is possible to join us for a couple of spins by signing the guest sheet. Please dress appropriately, proper cycling gear if you have it. Bikes should be in good mechanical order and safe to ride. You should carry 2 spare tubes, tyre levers and pump. Bring a snack, water, phone in zip-lock bag and money for coffee stop.

Cycling distance will be 35k-40k and increase as the weeks go on. Beginners are expected to have some level of fitness, ideally able to cycle for 1-2hrs at an average pace of 20-22km/hr.

Each beginner cycle will have a more experienced ride leader who will lead the group, please follow instructions of the leaders particularly in relation to safe group-ride discipline.
