CTC Charity Aquathon for Down Syndrome

This year sees the return of our Charity Aquathon for Down Syndrome Cork after the great success of last year’s event

This is a charity close to my heart, as in November 2014 my son Ruadh was born with Down Syndrome, so I know, first hand of the great work and support they provide in Down Syndrome Cork.

This year all funds raised will go towards the set up of an all new Early Intervention Program starting in DS Cork.

Early intervention is specific targeted programmes designed for children under the age of 4. These will included speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, sensory play and music therapy.

This program is run by full time speech and language therapists.

The Aquathon

This will be a FUN event and will be an ideal event for beginners, as the swim will be shorter than a sprint and so too will the run.

It’s also a great introduction to group swimming.

Team mixed relay-

Teams will be made up of 1 male and 1 female.

Athlete 1 will swim the 500m course and continue into transition. They will then complete a 2.5km run before coming back to their team member. Athlete 2 will repeat this course.

Hopefully by the time this has all finished the BBQ will be well heated & there will be plenty of food for every participant.

Spot prizes on the night.

Entry & food will be free so I will hoping for donations on the evening.

I hope to see you on the evening.
