It is with great regret that we have to postpone tonight’s scheduled swim around Sandycove. The Irish Water Safety Association have issued a a warning for the north, west and south coasts including Cork because of the influx or Portuguese Man of War jellyfish. Quite a few of these have turned up on beaches all along the Cork coast. The sting from these organisms can be quite painful and even dangerous. What ever about swimming in daylight where there is some possibility of avoiding them a swim in the dark with very limited safety support is just too risky. Last year our evening swim was in mid-October so there is still some time to possibly reschedule. Again apologies for any inconvenience caused to anybody but we have to put safety as the first consideration.
