Summer Time Trials (Start Tuesday May 3rd)

TT_June2_2015It is coming to that time of year again, the CTC Summer Time Trials will begin as normal on the first Tuesday in May (3rd).  The format will be the same as other years.  The TTs start at 7:00pm sharp at the Carrigtohill end of the old Youghal Road just east of the Retail Park where the Ballyseedy Garden Centre is located.  There is no entry fee, the cost is that every who does the TTs is expected to do the timekeeping at least once during the season which runs from the first Tuesday in May until the end of August. Over the course of the season the TTs will incorporate a league for CTC club members, the league will run for 10 of the weeks.  The first few TTs will not be part of the league.  The TT course can be seen here.  Many members who take part in the event use the occasion to make it a “brick” session by going for a run immediately after the TT.  The usual run route is about 6.8km long and can be seen here.

The TTs have always be a very popular part of the CTC summer season but they cannot be run if people do not cooperate and help out with the timekeeping.  We have approximately 250 members in the club it should not be difficult to get enough people to help out (but it often is).  Dave Egan and Jane McGrath are again coordinating, very soon now appeals will be going out asking members to step up and put their names down for one or more of the Tuesday evenings.  Please help make their job a bit easier by committing to timekeeping as soon as possible.  Last year many people left it to the last minute to sign up, on occasion we had to threaten to cancel before we got time keepers.  Dave’s email address is david.egan1966@gmail.com . Only people who actually do time keep will be counted in the club league.  On the last evening there will be a social get together and prize giving.  The current course record holders are AJ Murphy at 18:17 and Katie Cooke holds the women’s record. Here’s to a great summer!!
