Extraordinary General Meeting April 28th 8:00pm

To All Cork Tri Members

It will be necessary to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Thursday April 28th at 8:00pm.  This has been made necessary by the need to update our club constitution.  The main area that needs updating is the Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct for members.  In the last few years the club has opened up to junior membership and of course with having juniors in the club we have to ensure that we have adequate protection for the young club members.  The members/coaches who have been dealing with the junior section have all of the Garda clearance and have attended courses relating to codes of conduct in this area but it is also necessary to incorporate these items in the club constitution.  Changes to the constitution must be voted in by the general club membership at either the AGM or a specially convened EGM.  As our AGM is not scheduled until November of this year it is necessary to hold an EGM to make the changes.

The main changes are the introduction of the Protection Policies and Code of Conduct but we have taken the opportunity to make some additional small changes to the format of the constitution as well.  In the next day or so we will post a copy of the proposed constitution on the website with the usual links to Facebook and Twitter.  Voting in of the constitution should take less than 30 minutes.  We have scheduled the EGM for the 30 min before the next committee meeting at 8:00pm on Thursday April 28th.  The venue will probably be the lecture room in the Mardyke Arena but this will be confirmed closer to the date.  We appeal for a reasonable attendance at this meeting, it is an important issue and will not take much time, please make an effort to attend.
