The sport of triathlon is rapidly increasing in popularity with a concomitant rise in the prevalence of injuries sustained by triathletes.
A number of studies suggest that increased years of triathlon experience, high running mileage, history of previous injury, and inadequate warming-up and cooling-down regimes appeared to have individual associations with injury incidence As a result of this and because of our work with the Cork Triathlon High Performance Squad, we at DT Fitness & Performance would like to offer you the opportunity to attend our “Pre-competition warm-up and cool down” workshop on Wednesday 26th August at 7:30-8:30pm.
As part of the workshop we will cover certain topics such as:
- Performance benefits to muscle activation
- Injury prevention
- Reduction in potential muscle soreness
- Potential aiding of recovery time
- Coaching in PNF stretching techniques
In conjunction with informing and educating all attendees on the importance of proper warm-up and cool-down procedures, we will be coaching a practical warm-up/ cool down that can be incorporated by each athlete pre/post competition. Furthermore, included in the cost, we will be providing all the tools necessary to complete these pre/post competition exercises.
In summary, whether you are a competitive tri-athlete or a beginner in the sport, proper warm-up and cool-down procedures should be put in place not only to help improve competition times on the day but also to ensure longevity throughout your triathlon career.
The workshop will be taking place on Wednesday 26th August at 7:30-8:30pm at our training facility in Togher, Co.Cork and will be limited to 20 attendees in order to maintain the highest standard of coaching. The fee for the workshop is €20 with a discounted fee of €15 for all Cork Tri Club members.
