Kevin Sweeney will hold a Transition Workshop in the Regional park in Ballincollig at 7:00pm on Friday 10th July. Transition is often called the 4th discipline in triathlon (quadrathlon?). For many beginners it can be the most intimidating part of their early triathlons. ” What do I bring, how do I get stuff there, how do I manage the changes between events” all these things are often neglected in club training and winter seminars. So Kevin will do a session in the park for those that don’t know it there is a link here. Simple instructions, straight through the village of Ballincollig to the lights at the western end (there is a big Super Valu supermarket on the left), take a right at the lights towards Iniscarra after about 600m the road narrows and veers to the right about 50m on before the narrow bridge is the entrance to the park. There is a white tower by the entrance. The Transition event will be held by the soccer pitches just after the car park. Again for anyone that doesn’t know the place it is a great location for some off road running with a mixture of grass, trails and tarmac paths a full lap of the park is about 5km.
Supply of small elastic bands
Transition towel if you use one
We won’t have a transition bar to mount bikes but they can be laid on the grass. This is not confined to beginners it will also be an ideal opportunity for more experienced members to pick up some tips and practice faster transitions.
