Seeing as the club time trials are starting up this week, it’s time to shift the focus of the Monday cycles slightly. You can’t expect the body to put in hard efforts on successive days without the quality suffering. This week I’m suggesting some ‘sweet spot’, sub-threshold work. Those interested can read up here. After a session like this, you should be still able to go hard at the time trial on Tuesday. Format will be similar to hill reps thusfar. From the meeting point outside the Curraheen greyhound track we’ll pedal, as a group, out towards Cloghroe. The climb from there towards Nadd has a very gentle, steady gradient. We’ll pick a start point and then attempt 3 or 4 ten minute tempo intervals, turning around after each interval with recovery on the descent. In order to get the best of the weather tomorrow, we’re going to head out early. Apologies to those working.
