First track of the season hopefully the weather will cooperate. The session moves to 7:00pm sharp (St Finbarrs have the track from 6:00-7:00pm). The track sessions are ideal for all levels within the club from very experienced runners through to absolute beginners. It is important that in a group session like this that people find their own pace. The main set is repeat 600m to be run at 5km race pace, you should know your own race pace. Race pace is from a straight 5km race not at the end of a sprint distance triathlon. Also everyone should try to keep their effort even across the session, no point in either burning the first few and dying towards the end or on the other hand dawdling early on and trying blast the last couple.
Meet on the track, Sonia O’Sullivan Track at the UCC Sports Grounds on the Mardyke, at 7:00pm ready to run. There are dressing rooms and showers in the pavilion by the track for those that want/need them. Car parking can be tight so running or cycling down can be a good option.
