It was a great first night out for the start of Cork Tri Aquathon Series.
The weather was great if a little windy but who could complain.
The water was a little choppy for the evening of the an almost 1k swim which was swam over 2 laps. It was a running start off the beach and it wasnt long before Sean Goggin got going. being first out of the water in 12 minutes 30 seconds a minute ahead of Peter Fagan.
James Mintern started his race as a junior in the second lap of the swim and didn’t spend a whole lot of time in the water coming out in just over 6 minutes.
On the second lap the second lap the water got a bit more choppy but still didn’t slow down the top swimmers.
Sean Goggin set off on his run knowing Peter Fagan would be hunting him down and so he did with with a blistering 4k.
As Peter ran out winner on the evening followed by Ivan Kelleher.
Karina Teehan was first lady home in a sprint finish with Noel O Reagan.
The evening was finished off with tea and biscuits in the sun.
Next day out is the 19th venue TBC.
