Source Health & Fitness Sprint Triathlon

The inaugural Charity Triathlon held by Source Health & Fitness, Silversprings, takes place on Saturday, 15th May, 2010 at 9am. Registration from 7:30am at reception.  The triathlon will be a fun event in aid of charity, aimed at all levels of competitor from the complete beginner who is up for a fun challenge to the more experienced.

The event will be a sprint distance race starting and finishing at Source Health & Fitness Centre. It will be open to both individual and relay teams. Individual entry will cost €30 and relay team entry will cost €60 per team. Registration forms must be completed and returned to the Leisure Centre by Wednesday 12th May with payment. Entry forms are available at the reception desk.

The course will comprise of 750m swim in the pool, followed by a 20km road cycle to Cobh Cross and back, after which there will be a 5km road run. The whole event promises to be great fun for all levels.

The event will be in aid of charity with all money raised going directly to selected charities. One of the charities involved is The Brían O’Tuama Fund. This charity has been recently set up following the tragic accident of Brian O’Tuama who drowned in the river Lee on the 23rd of November 2009. While the fund has a particular short-term focus of raising money to buy a boat for Mallow Search and Rescue, the key objective of the fund in the future is to provide support and assistance to other meritorious projects, and to keep the cherished memory of Brían Ó Tuama alive and vibrant in the community.
